On September 3-5, Labor Day weekend, the Virginia Chess Federation held its annual closed State Championship, won by FM James Schuyler. Schuyler (pronounced sky-ler) won five straight games and didn’t even play the final round, as no one could catch him. Although his score 5/6 score was tied by FM Macon Shibut, Schuyler had the better tiebreaks.

I didn’t play this year, but I did visit rounds 3-6 with my camera, and I have posted several videos at my Youtube chess account, gywhchess.
