I finished reading Alan Paton’s Cry, The Beloved Country – highly recommended. Set in late 1940s South Africa, with apartheid; a deep and striking story. A tragedy entwines a pair of fathers and their sons, with a remarkable working out of things afterwards. The writing is beautiful. The author does not avoid describing painful human moments, as well as wonderful ones. Poignant. Go well, reader.
