Very well written police procedural/psychological mystery, set in modern-day (2000s) Ireland, where a child-murder case is intertwined with a second crime, a missing children case, in the same location, from 20 years previous. The police investigative team has 2 main characters, a female, tense, nervy, unofficial psychological profiler Cassie Maddox, and her partner, male Rob Ryan, the narrator; their interaction as they investigate the crime provides most of the action of the novel. I read all 429 pages in three overnight sittings, and the only reason it took that long is I stopped to reread and savor certain moments. Well done.
